Dynamische CA bewaring
Van Amerongen's Dynamic CA System (ACR) dynamically adjusts (instead of pre-setting) CA conditions during storage. The equipment of the 'Dynamic CA Storage System' responds to the physiological state of the fruit in the cell and automatically adjusts the storage conditions accordingly. Oxygen percentages of less than 1% are then no problem, because the oxygen concentration is immediately adjusted as soon as it threatens to become too low.
Why Dynamic CA Hold?
Determining the optimal, lowest, oxygen concentration for fruit storage is a major challenge, as it depends on several factors;
- type of fruit
- Harvest time (maturity)
- Leak tightness cold store
- Growing location (microclimate and geography)
All of these factors affect how active the fruit is (ie the respiratory activity of the fruit). Determining the optimal oxygen concentration is therefore quite difficult.
In general; the lower the oxygen concentration, the longer fruit can be stored. However, there is a lower limit in the oxygen concentration, at which fermentation will occur, which is directly at the expense of the quality (and thus the storability) of fruit. That is why it is usually chosen to store at a 'safe' O2 concentration, which is usually much higher than 1%.
With Dynamic CA storage, the fruit is automatically stored in the most optimal condition, which is continuously adjusted in response to the respiration of the fruit. Oxygen percentages of less than 1% are then no problem, because the oxygen concentration is immediately adjusted as soon as it threatens to become too low.
